Definition: A Conceptual House Plan is a concept or an idea for a home design. Essentially, these are preliminary plans that include all of the elevations, floor plans, and details necessary to begin the final construction drawings.

Stock plans include most of the drawings necessary for construction.
However, in many cases, additional drawings will be necessary to
comply with local codes and conditions. Conceptual Plans are not
completed sets of drawings. Rather, they are preliminary drawings
ready for you or your designer to make any necessary modifications
and then complete the drawings.

Stock Plans often contain various details and specifications that differ
from those that you want included in your plans. With Conceptual Plans
you complete the actual construction drawings and include only those details that you want your clients and contractors to see.

In order to modify a stock plan you must first obtain written permission from the designer or architect. Many companies will not give you this authorization – those that will usually will require the purchase of an expensive reproducible mylar. Who wants a mylar anymore? Are you really going to do erase and redraw by hand? CAD files and printed plans are available for all Conceptual House Plans, all plans include written permission allowing you to start modifications immediately.
